Questions? Answers!

1. I’m a self-publishing author. What can IndieGo Publishing do for me?

We believe we are the best book publisher for self-publishing independent authors because we do it all. This frees you to concentrate on writing. Each major book retailer/distributor has different, specific, and often confusing guidelines for how they want your manuscript to be formatted, not only the interior of the book but the cover as well. While this is not impossible for an author to do, it is extremely time consuming, not to mention it requires establishing a publisher’s account with each retailer/distributor. IndieGo Publishing does all that for you, but we never leave you out of the process! We communicate with you throughout the entire process from beginning to end. We work in partnership with our authors. However, if you want to upload your ebook and paperback files to your own Kindle, CreateSpace, IngramSpark, or other accounts, we can offer you a slightly lower publishing rate and guide you through that process so that you can be in full control of your royalties. 🙂

2. Will I retain the copyright of the books I publish through IndieGo Publishing?

Yes, you will retain the copyright. You are simply assigning the digital rights to IndieGo for the purposes of epublishing your book. The copyright page of your book will show:
Book Title Copyright © 2017 Author’s Name
Published in the United States of America by IndieGo Publishing LLC

3. What are your editing rates?

I love editing and have perfected manuscripts for self-publishing authors for more than ten years. If you only need me to edit your manuscript, I will sign an agreement that states IndieGo Publishing will not publish your book or in any way sell your work. EDITING RATES: I believe in using a per-word editing rate since the words are being edited, not the pages. Most manuscripts are based on a two-cents-per-word rate. Here is a sample of how the math is calculated for the fee: 50,000-word book x $.02 per word = $1,000 editing fee payable in two installments.

4. What is the cost of your publishing package?

We charge a flat $2399 for all the publishing services listed on the We Do It All page of this website. We are certain that you won’t find a better deal with any other independent or self-publishing firm and still receive the personal attention, quality, and excellence that we are known for at IndieGo Publishing throughout the entire process from start to finish.

5. How/when will you pay my royalties?

Each online retailer/distributor pays royalties to IndieGo Publishing on a slightly different schedule. We pay our authors through PayPal every month for royalties that have been paid to us by the various print and ebook platforms, and we email our authors a copy of their books’ royalty reports as supporting documentation.

6. What percentage of my book royalties will I earn?

We pay 100% of your Kindle and CreateSpace royalties every month, and 75% of your royalties for wholesale purchases through Lightning Source/Ingram. (Please see the section following the FAQs below detailing how and when royalties are paid by each vendor/retailer if you would like your ebook published with the five major retailers instead of just Kindle.)

7. Do you have an author referral program?

Yes we do! If you refer an author to us who pays for any of our services, whether editing or editing and publishing, we will send you 2% after all services have been paid in full.

8. What kind of publishing contract do you offer?

We offer a non-exclusive publishing contract, which means you will always retain copyright; you are not locked in permanently; and after your book is published, you can cancel at any time with thirty days’ written notice.

Book Sales and Royalties: Payment Schedules per Retailer/Publishing Platform
When you choose to publish independently, it is important to understand how book royalties are paid by the various vendors with whom we publish your book. Each has its own rules. Most do not pay out a single penny until a certain sales threshold has been reached. This is confusing for many authors to understand, so we offer a detailed explanation below.

The value of publishing with IndieGo Publishing instead of doing it yourself with each vendor individually is that we have multiple published books for sale, which means we are more likely to reach the total sales threshold sooner than you would having only one book for sale.

The author earns 75 percent of book royalties. IndieGo Publishing keeps only 25 percent of the royalty percentages shown below, which covers PayPal transaction fees (we make all royalty payments to our authors via PayPal because it is instant and secure) and the annual cost to keep your book listed in the primary marketing catalog sent by Lightning Source/Ingram to booksellers and libraries the world over.

IndieGo Publishing pays its authors on the quarterly system since this encompasses the various timeframes imposed by each vendor as detailed below.

Here is how each vendor pays royalties to IndieGo Publishing:

AMAZON KINDLE (ebook)
Kindle pays IndieGo Publishing automatically by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) for ebook sales approximately sixty (60) days following the end of the calendar month during which the applicable sales occur.

AMAZON/CREATESPACE (print book)
CreateSpace pays IndieGo’s royalties for a given month’s sales the following month. For example, in March, IndieGo will receive a royalty payment for the total number of sales IndieGo earned in February. This payment schedule allows time for sales revenue collections and payment processing.

BARNES & NOBLE’S Nook ebook
Publisher will be paid a royalty off the List Price according to the following terms:
• For eBooks with a List Price at or between $2.99 and $9.99 – 65% of the List Price
In most cases, the publisher will be paid 60 days after the close of the calendar month in which the sale occurs.

GOOGLE PLAY
Google will initiate a payment once each month within two business days after the end of the previous calendar month if they owe IndieGo Publishing at least the minimum amount of $1.00.

APPLE iBookstore
Apple pays royalties when the total sales of all books published with IndieGo Publishing reaches a threshold of at least $10.00. Payments are made within 45 days of the last day of the month in which the book is sold.

KOBO ebooks

Kobo pays monthly. For electronic payment, the threshold is $25. You will still be paid every 6 months if your balance is under these thresholds.

Lightning Source
Lightning Source pays 90 days after royalties are earned.
